Today, I decided to give my son’s old Xbox 360 Scuf controller a second life by replacing the broken USB cable. This controller, which he bought back in 2010 from the UK for a pretty hefty price, was a game-changer for FPS gamers. Scuf controllers are designed with performance in mind, especially the back paddles that allow players to jump and dropshot without taking their thumbs off the sticks.

Over the past few years, this controller had been gathering dust, especially after the cable started to fray. But today, I figured it was time to fix it. Opening it up was quick and easy, and when I stripped the new USB cable, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the color-coded wires matched the controller’s layout perfectly. This made the soldering job a breeze—just a matter of connecting the new cable, making neat connections with shrink tubing.
Reassembling the controller didn’t go as smooth as the D-pad initially didn’t fit right, so I had to open it up again and reposition it properly. But once everything was back in place, I was pleased to see this high-quality Scuf controller working again.
Now, I’m ready to jump into GTA IV, because I’m sure Roman is waiting for Niko to join him for a game of bowling!
